Welcome to UCSF’s Office of Restorative Justice Practices resource page. These carefully curated tools and readings reflect our commitment to cultivating a culture guided by mutual respect and collective care. Our aim is to support UCSF’s evolution in embedding a restorative mindset through both proactive community building and responsive work. These aren’t exhaustive—but they’re a purposeful starting point to help you explore how your unit, team, or learners might integrate restorative justice practices.
Whether you're just beginning or deepening your practice, we hope these resources inform and inspire how restorative justice can shape relationships and strengthen connections across UCSF.
Materials & Handouts
Practical printables and reference sheets for everyday use.
- Communication Styles | This table outlines different types of communication. RJP team specializes in the facilitation of Circles.
- Community-Building Prompt Questions | The RJP team has put together a Community Building Circle prompt bank following the 4 C’s (check-in, connection, collaboration, close) flow that you can use to design your Circle guides. The Connection and Collaboration prompts are divided by topic. The prompts are adaptable and don’t need to be used word for word.
- Embodiment Practices | Our bodies are essential to understanding how we interpret and react to the world around us, so it is important for us to look inward to truly embody restorative practices. In this document, the RJP team compiled a list of practices from external resources that can help you find or return to a state of calm and presence in your body, especially in times of (dis)stress.
- Holding a Healing-Centered Circle | The practice of self-reflection helps to ground your RJ work with a healing-centered approach. The RJP team created this guide to help you get clear on your vision, needs, and offerings to honor the space you hope to facilitate.
- Universal Human Needs | Universal human needs are fundamental requirements for well-being and fulfillment, applicable to all individuals.
